The half organic half recycled polo dress
This recycled piqué polo dress is dedicated to Suzanne Lenglen, a French tennis player of the 1920s who owes her fame not only to her sport skills, but also to her unconventional style. For her the stylist Jean Patou created a sportswear outfit, creating a strong connection between sport and the fashion world.
How it is made
With this composition we achieved the goal of a recycled but completely natural jersey fabric. 50% is made from recycled cotton from industrial waste, while the other 50% is made from virgin organic cotton.
To create this fabric, a technique that was falling into disuse was literally dusted off. Once the dust has been removed from the machinery, the piquet is back in Prato!
Organic cotton comes from ** a non-intensive cultivation **, which does not deplete the soil and therefore requires much less water. This jersey allows to save about 84% of water, compared to a cotton genetically modified to be more productive.
Who made it
The polo shirts from Rifò are made by Paola in the family business in Prato, which is specialized in jersey.
