Berta high-waisted shorts are made of old jeans that have been recycled, transformed into new yarns and then into a new, sustainable, denim canvas with a low impact on the planet. These women bermuda shorts are stylish and fresh, they accentuate the waistline and have a loose fit.

COMPOSITION: 70% recycled denim, 25% virgin cotton, 5% other fibers. What are other fibers? The yarns from hems and other trimmings in old recycled garments that cannot be traced.

WASHING CARE: The denim yarn of our shorts behaves similarly to that of classic trousers. After a few wear , you can bring it back to the original form by washing it at 30 °. If you decide to wash it by hand, firstly make a light centrifuge to drain the water, then dry it in a natural way by lying it on a horizontal bord: this yarn is very subject to stretching due to the weight of water.

ORIGIN

The garments in recycled denim fabric were manufactured in Prato and woven by the looms of local producers. A creation process that takes place at 360 degrees and within a distance of just a few kilometres from our office.

The recycled yarns we use are certified.

SOCIAL IMPACT

For every purchase on our online shop, we will donate 2€ to the social impact project Nei nostri panni, cenciaiolis to be, which aims to create a school for ragmen, the artisans of textile recycling. Every donation will support the training of young people coming from the local immigrant reception centres.

High-waisted Shorts With Belt

How it was made

The recycled jeans shorts Berta are 100% cotton. To be precise: 80% recycled denim, 15% virgin cotton to increase resistance and 5% other fibers, resulting from the trimmings and non-traceable details of old regenerated jeans.

Lightweight and soft for summer, the fabric we created with this yarn is a beautiful denim canvas, which look the same on both the front and the reverse.

Environmental impact

To make each Rifò denim garment we estimate that they have been recycled from two to five pairs of old jeans consuming only 80 liters of water, against the 3000 required by an identical virgin cotton garment. The result is a reduction of roughly 87% water consumption, 77% energy and 93% CO2.

Who made it

Silvia and Lucia. Mother and daughter, two generations of the same company. For years they have been carrying on the tradition of tailoring and developing cut and sewn garments in Prato.
