Recycled cotton cape
How to wear it
Rifò's padded cape is warm and comfortable, it can be worn either as outerwear or over an autumn jacket or leather jacket. Just a small tip: if you wear it with a belt at the waist, the result is stunning.
The geometric pattern of The Bad cape has been designed with matching colours, so that it gives a touch of elegance without complicating your look.
How has it been made
Rifò's recycled cotton cape is made with a jacquard loom; therefore, it has a double face.
To obtain the fleecy texture, the blanket is washed and then treated by special machines equipped with thousands of tiny pins that pull out the hair of the thread to make it softer and softer.
This process contributes to make the fabric soft and, by increasing the amount of retained air, it improves the fabric property of thermal insulation.
At the bottom of the blanket we thought of adding 10 cm of fringes. Finally, even the finishing that wraps around the neck is made with a soft recycled cotton yarn.
By using at least 80% recycled cotton for our products we avoid the production of virgin cotton, one of the most polluting on the planet.
The least polluting cotton is, in fact, the one already made. Besides not requiring pesticides and chemical products, the cotton recycling process is mechanical, thus it does not imply water waste.
Who made it
Our recycled cotton blankets and scarves are entirely created by Enrico's looms, who has been weaving scarves and knitwear in Prato for a lifetime.
He regrets only that the value of the recycled fibres in the area has not been appreciate as they would have deserved from the beginning. Anyway, it is better late than ever!
